7th Grade Core
In 7th grade, our core curriculum is meticulously designed and research-based to align with the California Content Standards. It is delivered in a two-period block, integrating English and history-social science content. This approach enriches students' reading, writing, and analytical-thinking skills through a cohesive exploration of informational and literary texts, alongside medieval history.
Our English curriculum encompasses a wide array of essential skills, including reading comprehension, literary analysis, and proficiency in various writing styles such as summary, argument, narrative, and response to literature. Additionally, students receive comprehensive instruction in vocabulary and grammar/syntax.
In history-social science, students delve into pivotal historical periods from the fall of the Roman Empire to the dawn of the 18th century. They explore key topics such as the Roman Empire, Medieval Europe, the rise of Islam, Medieval Africa, Japan and China, Mesoamerica, Europe during the Renaissance, the Reformation and Scientific Revolution, the Age of Exploration, and the Age of Reason.
