Digital Photography

This semester-long, digital photography class will explore the many facets of digital imagery. Students are expected to produce and preserve images that paint a picture, tell a story, or record an event. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of technical editing strategies and techniques through the use of open source software programs. This digital photography program will introduce the understanding of composition and image design; focusing on color, theory, and practical applications.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Photo composition and techniques
  • Elements of art and principles of design
  • Basic digital editing
  • Photo saving formats
  • Introduction to photographic impacts on culture
  • Introduction to photographic genres, artists, and history
