2024-25 CAL HIGH SPANISH PLACEMENT TESTS

2024-25 CAL HIGH SPANISH PLACEMENT TESTS

What?
The World Language Department will be hosting a placement test for students wishing to test into Spanish 2 (skipping Spanish 1) or Spanish 3 (skipping Spanish 1 and/or 2).* These tests were created so that the teachers can get a sense of students’ current abilities and if students will be successful at skipping levels. Students do not need to study for the placement test. There will be both a written exam and an oral interview.

*The World Language department has a strict policy that, due to the rigorous nature of the courses and material taught, we highly recommend that students do NOT take online courses to skip levels. These courses do not adequately replace a year of classroom exposure to the language.  Also students may NOT skip levels 3 or 4 of Spanish.

When?
Monday, May 20 at 3:00 p.m. OR Thursday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. (the test takes 1-1.5 hours).
Contact Sr. Tinetti if you are unable to attend either date.

Where?
California High School, World Language Building, Classroom #10

How?
Contact Sr. Tinetti. Students may stop by his room (WL-10) to sign up in person or students/parents may email him at stinetti@srvusd.net

What should I do for registration?
Students signing up for classes should register for the level of Spanish they would be in if they were not taking the placement exam. If/When students are placed in a higher level, Sr. Tinetti will contact the counselors and tell them to advance students to the appropriate level of Spanish.
