IHMS Ed Fund

PURPOSE OF IHMS ED FUND

PURPOSE OF IHMS ED FUND

The Iron Horse Middle School Education Fund is an affiliate of, and works closely with, the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF).  SRVEF is the primary fundraising organization working in partnership with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District to provide financial support and promote public education in our community.  The Iron Horse Middle School Education Fund (IHMSEF) has the same focus but is specific to Iron Horse Middle School.  IHMSEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and determining the most effective use of those funds to help maintain and enhance the quality of education at Iron Horse Middle School.  This is accomplished through the collaboration of parents, educators, the school’s Site Council, the school’s PTA, and the community.

Why is the Education Fund needed?

California ranks among the lowest of states in the nation in terms of school staff per pupil and average spending per pupil.  The parents and staff of Iron Horse Middle School believe that our students deserve smaller class sizes to allow teachers to give more attention to their students.  The Education Fund was established to provide critical technology and smaller class sizes that the school district and the state simply do not fund.  Since then, our mission has expanded to help support education at Iron Horse beyond just technology.  We work hard to elevate the level of education at Iron Horse Middle School, but we need your support to be successful!

For the 2022-23 school year, the Iron Horse Middle School Education Fund has committed to funding ten sections, with a section being the cost of hiring one teacher for one period.  In addition to this commitment, the Ed Fund will continue its tradition of using any additional funds to support teachers directly through its teacher grant program.  Teachers can submit grant proposals to the Ed Fund for materials that are needed for the classroom such as books for the classroom library, technology needs, or even professional development.

How can I help support the Education Fund?

  • Make a donation to the Education Fund today using the Iron Horse Future Fund Website or using the button below.  For $360 per student, we can continue to provide reduced class sizes as well as school support.
  • All donations are tax-deductible!  Our tax ID is 91-1780917. Your donation receipt will include this information.
  • Find out if your employer matches your donation as corporate matching which can often double your donation!
  • Use Amazon Smile when shopping on Amazon and indicate Iron Horse Middle School Education Fund as your charity!  This is the same exact site as Amazon or Amazon Prime, and this is a simple way to help your school.
  • Attend the Dine In/Dine Out Nights; you will receive periodic emails with details about participating restaurants.
  • Sign up for eScrip and earn money while you shop with your registered cards.

For the 2022-23 academic year, the suggested donation is $400 per student. Your most generous contribution will help sustain our school’s tradition of excellence.

These goals are only achieved with the generous donation from our parent community.  Without your help these goals are only a dream, with your donation these goals become your students' reality

Thank you for your continued support!
